PEOPLE interested in a career in building have been invited to free recruitment events in Huddersfield and Halifax.
The two events are on Friday next week and have been organised by Pathway into Construction (PiC), part of Kirklees Council's Economic Development Service.
The first starts at 11.15am at the Central Library, Halifax. The second will be at Huddersfield Town Hall at 2pm.
The PiC scheme is open to anyone over 16 living in Kirklees or Calderdale who has been unemployed for over six months. It offers an opportunity to gain building skills through a 12-week training programme.
Trainees also gain certificates in health and safety, manual handling and first aid.
Tools, equipment and safety boots are provided. Help is also available for travel expenses to and from the training centre and child care costs.
The training programme is delivered in partnership with `build', a Kirklees Council initiative supporting the local construction industry, and funded by Jobcentre Plus.
Clr Andrew Pinnock, Kirklees Cabinet member with responsibility for development services, said: "Many local people have already benefited from PiC."
Anyone who would like more information, or wants to go to the recruitment events, should phone 01484 223698.
