A SUPER Learning Day was held at a Huddersfield school.

The event at Fixby Junior and Infant School aimed to help children find out how they best learn, through seeing, hearing and doing - or a combination of all three.

Children took part in a series of activities and challenges, including skipping, preparing a healthy eating chart, testing fruits and creating a model of the human body.

The event was part of the school's development as a centre of excellence for learning and its partnership with the University of the First Age.

The school is the only one in Kirklees to be recognised as a partner with the UFA in 2006.

The UFA is an educational charity that works with schools and communities to develop excellence and enjoyment in learning.

A presentation was made at the day by Kirklees UFA partnership manager Helen Butler.

Teachers Nicola Sudgen and Sarah Hobson are the latest members of the Fixby staff to complete the UFA training course.

They are now Fellows of the UFA.

Head teacher Jenny Chamberlain said: "We are very proud of our success. I would like to praise the staff and pupils for their enthusiasm and commitment to the UFA and its principles."
