A CELEBRATION of the life of Jonathan Drake, the head of Kirklees Council's culture and leisure services, who died in September, will be held in Huddersfield Town Hall on Sunday.

It will include pieces performed by artists and musicians who were helped through his work.

Poetry, thoughts and memories will be read by family, friends and colleagues.

Anyone who knew him is invited to join his colleagues, family and friends from 12.30pm.

Mr Drake, 45, joined Kirklees Council in 1997.

A council spokeswoman said: "He made a major difference to the development of cultural services for the people of Kirklees and was held in very high regard by all who worked with him."

The programme for the celebration, reflecting Mr Drake's life and work, will be introduced by Richard Bealing, the assistant head of the service.
