NEW flowers may be planted to develop the beauty of a village oasis.

The move is being considered for Emley's Millennium Green.

It comes four years after work began on a £40,000 transformation of the former farming site.

The land now boasts wild flowers, benches and picnic tables, a walkway and a lookout area with panoramic view.

Warwick Jepson, chairman of the trustees, said: "Hard work has produced a green of which the village can be proud.

"We are now thinking of widening the range of wild flowers to complement the daffodils, bluebells, foxgloves and poppies already there."

The Millennium Green Trust is holding its annual meeting next week at the Methodist Schoolroom at 7.30pm on Thursday.

Volunteers to help with maintenance and development are being urged to turn up at the green during the morning of the first Tuesday of each month, when work takes place.
