IT may be a little early for Hallowe’en, but children still managed to enjoy some spooky fun at Lindley Library.
The group of youngsters were bewitched as they gathered to hear the adventures of Winnie the Witch and her black cat, Wilbur.
The series of popular books, written and illustrated by Valerie Thomas and Korky Paul, have been charming readers for more than 20 years and the children were the latest generation to enjoy them.
The storytelling was part of Independent Booksellers’ Week, which sees a number of events taking place up and down the country to celebrate independent bookshops and their importance.
During the week local children were invited to storytelling sessions and enjoy looking at specially-decorated shop windows. Participants included the Children’s Bookshop on Lidget Street.
Libraries across Kirklees are now taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge.
