THIRTY thousand youngsters in the region have got a sporting boost.

As part of a Sport England scheme 30,068 West Yorkshire children who don’t usually get the chance to play sport outside of school have completed a 10 week sports course.

The courses, part of Sport England’s Sport Unlimited programme, have been completed by 55,550 children throughout Yorkshire in just two years.

Across England, half a million youngsters have got involved.

Sport Unlimited is aimed at youngsters who are not yet playing regular sport in the community.

The most popular sports for boys include boxing and basketball and for girls it’s fencing, gymnastics and badminton.
