A SPORT and Oral History Conference is coming to Huddersfield University next month.

Keynote speaker Dr Robert Perks, secretary of the Oral History Society, kicks things off on Friday, April 3, at 10am in the Castle Hill Suite, followed by three speeches on Rugby League in the Community.

After lunch The Sporting City is the first topic then a Sport and Ethnic Identity session ends day one, before a visit to the Rugby League Heritage Centre and dinner.

Day one speakers are a variety of university professors, including Professor Pellom McDaniels, all the way from the USA and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

On Saturday April 4 the day starts with a Sport and the Celtic Fringe session, with talks on cricket in Wales and the Irish sports of hurling and Gaelic football.

After a coffee break, Rugby League and Regional and National Identity is the subject, including a speech on the 1946 ‘Indomitables’ Great Britain tour to Australia.
