CHILDREN from around Kirklees will be getting a taste of different sports activities as part of a new council programme.

The council is running Energise, a scheme for children aged seven to 11, at sports centres around the district.

Activities will be held at a different venue every week for three weeks.

During each week, children can try activities including cheerleading, street dance and break dancing.

The cost for the whole week is £35 or for any one day, £9.

Sessions will be held from July 28 to August 1 at Batley Sports and Tennis Centre from 9am to noon.

They will be held at Holmfirth Civic Hall from August 4 to 8, from 2 to 5pm.

There will also be sessions from August 11 to 15 at the Brian Jackson Centre in Huddersfield, from 10am to 1pm.

Places must be booked in advance by completing a form and sending a cheque. For more information, contact Energise on 01484 234006.
