AN EVENT aimed at encouraging blind people to get more involved in sport and physical activity is being held in Huddersfield.

During the day at Leeds Road Sports Complex people will be able to try a variety of sports, such as archery and tandem cycling.

They will also be find out more about gadgets they can use to help them with physical activity and about the sports opportunities that are available locally.

The event, aimed at blind and visually impaired adults, is being run by Kirklees Council, Kirklees Active Leisure and a voluntary group called Better Future for the Blind, with money from Kirklees Community Liaison.

The free day is being held from 10am to 1pm next Saturday.

People can drop in at any time and stay for as long as they want.

A buffet lunch will be provided.

A bus stop is clearly marked outside the venue, which is completely accessible and there are regular buses there from the bus station.
