MORE than £40,000 will be spent on a Lindley recreation area.
Kirklees Council is to spend £43,000 on the land at the back of the Black Bull pub on West Street.
The area is used by local sports teams, but becomes unplayable after rain.
The cash will enable a full drainage system to be put in.
The area will also get new car parking, litter bins, footpath improvements and a speed bump.
Lindley councillor Tony Woodhead said: "It has taken a long time to get funding for this scheme.
"Hopefully, this playing field will now become available to all ages of footballers and other sportspeople."
