KEVIN Collinge, chief executive of the company behind the McAlpine Stadium, died suddenly today.

Mr Collinge had been chief executive of the Kirklees Stadium Development Company since 1996.

He collapsed and died early today while on holiday in Spain. It is thought he suffered a heart attack.

The chairman of the Development Company Sir John Harman paid tribute to Mr Collinge, who leaves a wife Christine and a family.

Sir John said: "Kevin's loss is a devastating blow to the company and our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this extremely sad time."
