STAFF have been made redundant after a community group went bust.

Seven workers at Environment Concern in Batley were laid off on Friday.

Administrators moved in on January 25 after the group, which worked on projects involving horticulture and community services, got into financial trouble.

Richard Kenworthy of Begbies Traynor administrators in Halifax said: “Environment Concern has run out of money, though I’m not entirely sure why. In January the company was unable to afford its insurance or wage costs so it went into administration. We kept trading for two weeks but then decided to call it a day.”
