OPPORTUNITY to gain valuable work experience in stage management is on offer in Huddersfield.

The opportunity is open to anyone living in the Deighton, Newsome or Crosland Moor areas of Huddersfield who is interested in the theatre.

The chance to work with the Yellow Leaf Theatre company at the Lawrence Batley Theatre is being offered as part of the Creative Keys initiative.

It uses the arts to develop the skills of individuals.

A placement is being offered as assistant stage manager, starting on Monday April 4.

It is aimed at people aged between 16 and 65.

The successful candidate will work closely with the theatre company as they rehearse and perform Bill Maxted's Most Excellent Adventure.

Performances will be from Thursday 21 to Saturday April 23.

The role will include assisting with devising stage sets and costumes, operating the sound during rehearsals, taking rehearsal notes, finding and buying props, getting familiar with the technical requirements and assisting in running the show on performance nights.

This work experience placement is being offered on a voluntary basis with a £5-a- day bursary.

The deadline for applications is Wednesday March 16.
