BEAT bobbies found a cannabis farm after following their nose.

Officers from the Lower Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team discovered the farm after smelling cannabis while on a routine patrol.

When Pc Paul Kaye was on a foot patrol in Stainland on Monday and smelt the illegal drug coming from a house.

Pc Kaye then entered the property and discovered 20 suspected cannabis plants growing in the attic and some large bags of suspected cannabis.

Inspector Mohammed Nawaz of the Lower Valley NPT said: “Pc Kaye got an excellent result simply by being out there on the streets and using his nose to sniff out the plants.

“This shows that people involved in the growing and supply of drugs have nowhere to hide.”

A local man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of the production of cannabis and is currently on police bail pending further enquiries.
