A 10-YEAR-OLD dancer has won a scholarship to a boarding school which specialises in the performing arts.

Harriett Jenkinson, of Netherthong, will go to the Hammond School of Dance and Education in Chester this September.

She has been a pupil at the Huddersfield School of Theatre Dance in Armitage Bridge since she was three.

She is the third pupil from there to clinch a place at the Hammond School in the last three years.

Harriett has got a full scholarship at the Hammond School, which teaches GCSEs alongside dance disciplines including ballet, tap, modern and jazz.

The Armitage Bridge school's co-principal, Sheila Hodgson, said: "Harriett has done exceptionally well to win not only the place but also the full scholarship.

"All our pupils who have gone to the Hammond are dedicated to singing and dancing. It is a dream come true for them."

Harriett's parents are Sharon and Nick and she goes to Netherthong Junior and Infant School.
