HUDDERSFIELD actress Zoe Lucker has offered to help victims of the tsunami disaster.

The Footballers' Wives actress was set to fly to Thailand this week.

She had arranged a holiday with a friend before the huge tidal wave struck.

Her father, Paul Lucker, of Honley, said: "The flights were cancelled, but Zoe rang the aid agencies to see if she could go out and help.

"They were very nice and polite, but it was a case of `have you got any medical qualifications?'

"Or can you drive a heavy goods vehicle?

"Zoe, of course, had to say no. She's got a drama degree - but I don't think there's much call for those at the moment!"

Zoe and her pal instead boarded a flight to Brazil.

The 30-year-old is taking a sunshine break after seven months of filming for Footballers' Wives and Bombshell. She had her trademark blonde hair dyed brown the day she finished her final scenes for Footballers' Wives for the role of Army captain Jenna.

Bombshell is also made by Shed Productions and screening of the two ITV1 series is now being carefully scheduled so as not to clash.

Paul said: "Zoe's character in Bombshell is much more serious than Tania."

Unicef has had to turn down many offers of help.

A spokesman said: "The response to the disaster has been overwhelming. We have already had many, many calls offering help We are doing all we can to co-ordinate these.

"But what we most urgently need is money."

Unicef has been referring people to Red R, an organisation that co-ordinates volunteers with engineering skills, and Merlin, an agency that supplies medics.
