SPORTING stars launched a new campaign to get Huddersfield people fit.

Giants players Jim Gannon and Chris Nero and Town centre-back Nathan Clarke were present as Huddersfield Sports Centre launched free activities, including circuit training, swimming and squash.

Hilary Frayne, of Kirklees Active Leisure, said: "This is a perfect opportunity for people to come along and experience for themselves how easy it can be to get active and have some fun doing it."

More than 400 gyms and sports centres across the country are joining the month- long Get Active UK campaign.

Sport England is teaming up with the Fitness Industry Association for the initiative.

People who want to take part are asked to contact Hilary Frayne on 01484 234932 or e-mail hilary.frayne@kirklees. gov.uk

She will send free passes for one week, starting April 3, 10 or 17, on a first come first served basis.
