Curious members of the public have received a stern ticking off after more break-ins at Storthes Hall.

The derelict psychiatric hospital near Kirkburton at the site has been described as “unsafe” with loose floorboards.

But the hazards have proved to be no obstacle to passers-by wanting to have a peek.

Police issued a warning on the Kirklees Rural Facebook page reminding people not to venture into the disused building, which is due to be developed into a retirement village.

The force wrote: “We’ve been to the old Storthes Hall hospital today as there has been another attempt to get into the building.

“There is absolutely nothing inside of any value, and the inside structure is dangerous and unstable.

“The building is due to be redeveloped within the next couple of years as part of a large scale building development and is currently boarded up and fenced off.”

Officers added “Please keep away...not only is the old building dangerous, it’s proper creepy as well!”

Plans for the site include 300 homes for the retired, a residential care home and a community facilities scheme, with consultations currently underway.
