A POLICE inspector ran the Edinburgh Marathon to raise £845 for a children’s charity.

Stef Wiseman has twice failed to get into the massively over-subscribed London Marathon and so decided to go north of the border instead.

She warmed up with the Sheffield half-marathon earlier this year and then completed the Edinburgh Marathon in 4 hours, 43 minutes and 53 seconds.

Stef, who lives in Huddersfield and is an inspector with the Neighbourhood Policing Team in Spen Valley, said: “It was a great route – the first 10 miles were along a coastal road into a head wind. I really enjoyed it and it ended up not being as tough as I thought it was going to be. My aim was to do it under five hours.

“It was a personal challenge, but I also wanted to raise money to help local children too.’’

Two friends travelled to Scotland to support Stef and she was sponsored by family, friends and colleagues.
