A MAN has appeared in court accused of making indecent images of his stepdaughter and two children in his care.

The 45-year-old was before Huddersfield magistrates yesterday.

He is charged with recording a person doing a private act without their consent for the purpose of sexual gratification on several occasions.

The man, who has yet to enter a plea, also faces charges of making indecent pictures of a child.

The alleged offences are dated between January 1, 2010, and April 24, 2011, in Huddersfield.

Vanessa Schofield, prosecuting, told magistrates that the charges related to four complainants.

She said that the alleged offences were uncovered when the man’s stepdaughter returned home from university for the Easter break.

Ms Schofield said that the girl went in to use the bathroom and found a spy pen camera.

Police then seized computer equipment from the Huddersfield property.

They allegedly found images of the university student going to the toilet and using the shower.

There were also allegedly images of two children – one of whom was aged 15.

The man, who now lives in Bradford, also allegedly contacted a 16-year-old girl on a social networking site.

He is alleged to have taken pictures of her naked, simulating a sex act.

Ms Schofield told magistrates: “There are many aggravating features here.

“I invite you to adjourn this matter for committal to the crown court.”

Magistrates agreed that the man’s case should be heard at crown court.

They granted him conditional bail.

His conditions are that he does not enter the Huddersfield area except for a prior appointment with his solicitor.

He was also banned from unsupervised access to children under the age of 18 and from contacting named witnesses.

Finally, the man must not use or have access to a computer, laptop or mobile phone,

His case was adjourned until January 9.
