DRIVERS are being urged to put stickers in their cars to help thwart car crime.

Police are in the middle of a campaign to cut vehicle thefts and believe motorists can do more to protect their own cars.

Two stickers are available which can help.

One has a big 25 on it, which indicates to patrolling police that the car is never normally driven by people under 25.

If officers spot someone young behind the wheel they will stop and check it.

The other is a sticker with Vehicle Watch on it.

This indicates that the car is not normally used between midnight and 5am, so if it is seen on the streets it will be stopped.

The stickers are available from Huddersfield police station.

The crime prevention advice is part of the Steer Clear campaign.

This has involved operations in crime hot spot areas and on the region's roads to target travelling criminals and those involved in car crime.
