PEOPLE over 60 in Kirklees have still got time to order their national bus passes and receive them before April next year.

From April 1, 2008, people with Metro senior permits will need the new English National Concessionary pass for free local bus journeys and to take advantage of free national off-peak travel.

Metro chairman Clr Ryk Downes said more than 215,000 people had signed up for the new pass in West Yorkshire.

He added: “Forms are still coming in thick and fast.

“While we used the end of October as the cut-off date to ensure people received their new pass before April, the message is that if you are aged 60 or over or will be by April 1 apply now.

“And if you are not eligible but you have a relative or friend who is get them to apply now.”

People can order their new pass at a local post office or at a bus station travel centre.
