VIDEOS have been posted on YouTube claiming to show two men driving a stolen police car in Huddersfield.

But the web footage, taken in what appears to be a disused mill yard, is a prank.

West Yorkshire Police have carried out an inquiry into the footage and believe no crime has been committed.

The two clips show the men driving a silver Vauxhall Vectra complete with blue lights and siren and decked out with convincing police markings.

The videos are called ‘Huddersfield man steal police car’.

In one of the clips, one of the men appears to boast: “I ain’t scared of no police.”

He sets the siren off and drives off at speed, screaming four-letter expletives.

In the other video the other driver makes a similar boast, while the cameraman asks him how much he wants for the car.

Asked, “Did you get it from outside the police station in Milnsbridge?” he replies: “Yes.”

But West Yorkshire Police said the vehicle was not a genuine police car.

A spokeswoman said: “It does not and has never belonged to West Yorkshire Police.”

She said it was not owned by any other force either and said there was no record of the car being stolen.

A check of the car’s number plate reveals it is a five-year-old car that changed hands in 2006.

It is believed the car may be a prop used for films and television.

A number of companies hire out replica police cars and other emergency vehicles for film and TV use.
