HUDDERSFIELD'S residents are in for a treat this weekend as they welcome a rock 'n' roll legend.
Bill Wyman, former bass guitarist with The Rolling Stones, will be turning on the Christmas lights this Saturday in Holmfirth town centre.
This year, over £30,000 has been spent to bring new lights to the town centre.
Greg Christofi, president of Holme Valley Business Association, said: "We are expecting a big turn out, especially with the appearance of Bill Wyman.
"I mean, if a rock legend isn't enough to make people turn up, I don't know what will!"
Wyman is in Holmfirth for a sell-out concert at the Picturedrome.
A variety of activities will run throughout the day starting from 11.00am right through until the evening.
Activities will include a procession lead by a brass band, local rock group, Rock Group Mex, who have recently been offered a recording contract, a visit from Santa, a firework display from Victoria Park, and of course, the switching on of the Christmas lights.
Mr Christofi added:
"We are very excited for the visit of Mr Wyman and I am sure he will be warmly welcomed by t Holmfirth."
Bill Wyman will be turning on the Christmas lights at about 4.30pm, where some lucky guests may even get the chance to meet the rock star.
