SAINSBURY’S stores in Huddersfield have received an award for supporting good causes.
Staff at the Market Street and Shore Head stores picked up a CommunityMark award for their work with The Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA), Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, Marsden Mountain Rescue Team, Kirkwood Hospice, The Forget Me Not Trust and the Salvation Army.
Sainsbury’s raised over £10,000 for YAA by collecting unwanted bras through its Bag It Up campaign.
Nikki De-Whytell, from YAA, said: “We’re enormously grateful that both Sainsbury’s stores in Huddersfield adopted our campaign and inspired others in the region to join in.”
Stephen Howard, chief executive of Business in the Community, said: “The CommunityMark is the highest achievement for companies that are able to demonstrate the long term positive impact that they are having in their communities.”
