SHOTS were reportedly fired in Huddersfield.

The West Yorkshire Police helicopter was scrambled during the incident atCrosland Moor.

Officers raced to Gilbert Grove after reports of gunfire at 4.20pm yesterday.

Two Huddersfield men, one aged 26 and the other 29, were arrested in connection with the incident.

Both ends of the short street off Walpole Road were cordoned off at 8.30pm last night.

People who do not live on Gilbert Grove were being turned away at the barrier, but residents were allowed to return to their homes.

There were two police vans and a police car at the scene yesterday evening as well as uniformed officers and plain-clothed detectives.

One resident said last night that she had heard there had been shooting in the area earlier in the day.

The incident happened in a densely-populated area, just around the corner from Walpole Community Centre on Walpole Road.

Police are continuing to investigate today.
