A NIGHTCLUB has been allowed to stay open – if it keeps to a raft of strict conditions.

Ranx at Chapel Hill, Huddersfield, was banned from selling alcohol after police visited the premises in January.

The Caribbean club, which has operated under various names for about 37 years, was found to be in breach of a number of conditions of its licence.

It had not been using adequate CCTV, employing properly registered doorstaff or keeping a proper record of people barred from the venue.

Its owner, Roy Noel, was called in for a licensing review.

Yesterday he was told he could stay open, subject to a string of conditions.

Among the 14 rules requested by police and rubber-stamped by Kirklees Council’s licensing committee were that the premises by clean and safe at all times.

Portable gas heaters are banned, at least two doorstaff have to be employed at all times while alcohol is on sale and a drugs safe has to be installed to keep any substances confiscated from punters.

Extensive CCTV has to be installed and a strict search policy must be carried out to ensure drugs and weapons cannot be brought on to the premises.
