TIREDNESS and a lack of time are stopping Huddersfield people walking the recommended 10,000 steps a day, a new survey shows.

The study – carried out by the British Heart Foundation and tea company Tetley – found two thirds of people in the North were too tired to walk for 30 minutes a day to stay healthy.

More than 60% of people said they didn’t have enough time in their day for walking while 44% blamed the weather for their lack of exercise.

A third claimed the fear of blisters was keeping them at home, while 11% were worried about messing up their hair.

The survey comes as the BHF teamed up with Tetley Decaf to get the nation walking. Promotional packs of tea have been produced including details of how to buy AA Book Britain’s Walk at a discounted price of £3.99 to inspire people to stride out.

Tetley will donate 25 pence from the sale of every book to the BHF.
