A STUDENT was assaulted after he tried to buy alcohol in a Huddersfield park.

The 20-year-old was in St Peter’s Gardens next to Huddersfield Parish Church at 2am one morning when a man approached him offering to sell him alcohol.

When he got his wallet out the man snatched it.

When the victim tried to get it back he was punched him in the face and some teeth were cracked.

The victim fell to the ground and was punched further.

Police are appealing for revellers who were near the church at the time to come forward.

The suspect is described as having a skinhead haircut and wearing a white T-shirt and jeans.

The incident happened on July 27 but police have only now released the information.
