A BUDDING radio DJ is preparing for his first broadcast by appearing on the web.
Ben Walker, 16, of Myrtle Road, Golcar, is studying for a diploma in music technology at Huddersfield Technical College - the same course that The Darkness lead singer Justin Hawkins took.
Ben said: "I've been doing webcasts, which are like broadcasts but on the internet, for a while. I just do a mix of normal chart music, comedy and chat.
"I am going to get the chance to do my first radio broadcast in June." he added.
"I used to get very nervous doing the webcasts. But now I have got more used to it and I find it a lot easier to talk."
Ben hopes to eventually become a successful radio DJ, like his idol Chris Moyles. Now he is busy building up his experience.
The former Colne Valley High School pupil is also hoping Justin Hawkins may help him.
The rock singer has been invited to return to the college and Ben said he hoped to meet him and ask him for an interview - and perhaps to a jingle for his radio show!
"It would be brilliant to meet him," he added.
