HUDDERSFIELD students helped out at the national Moonwalk fundraising event.

The Moonwalk was held on May 15 in London. 15,000 people power-walked a marathon or half- marathon in their bras in the dead of night.

The event, organised by Walk the Walk, raised about £12m for breast cancer charities.

Fourteen students and staff from Huddersfield University were in London to help at the event.

For six hours they handed out water bottles and stewarded walkers and spectators.

The students and staff volunteered through the Student Union's Hands On Volunteering scheme.

Hands On Volunteering was created at the university in 2002 to help staff and students get involved in community projects.

Hands On workers match the volunteers to projects which will suit them best, or help create new projects.
