TWO students of Huddersfield New College are celebrating after being named as among the best in the country.
Liam Wadsworth and Helen Gillis are in the top 10 for their A level subjects. Liam, 19, from Dalton gained the place after success in engineering and Helen, 18, of Honley for product design.
Principal Angela Williams said: “This is an outstanding achievement and testament to the hard work of Liam, Helen and their teachers.”
Jerry Jarvis, on behalf of the awarding body Edexcel said: “This is a tremendous achievement. We send our congratulations to Liam and Helen.”
Liam, who also gained A levels in maths and physics after moving to the area from South Africa, is now studying for a degree in civil and structural engineering at Manchester University.
Helen, with A levels in art and design and photography, is studying for a degree in advertising at Huddersfield University.
