FORMER Shelley students are set to grace the small screen in a new drama series.

Actors Peter Hunt and Anna Burkinshaw will be starring in City Halls.

The new six-part series focuses on the lives of fictional students in York and will be aired on local channel York TV.

Peter and Anna - with a behind-the-scenes expert Andrew Steele - founded their own student company called Wetuna in 2004 as part of their theatre, film and television degrees at York St John's college.

Andrew was behind the scenes for the City Halls production.

Anna said: "It was a nine-week schedule. But because we were using amateur actors we had to fit in around work and uni commitments.

"So we had to film at weekends which put a lot of strain on us.

"City Halls is the biggest project we have had and we are pleased with it. It's been a good experience and we're proud of it.

"We were prepared really well by the drama teachers at Shelley. They gave us the confidence in ourselves and we have got the ambition from that."
