A LOCAL history project has got off the ground in Paddock.

Students at Royds Hall High School have been researching the 100-year history of the school.

The results of their work have gone on show in a colourful exhibition which looks at use of the school as a wartime hospital, teachers over the years, the many changes in the past 30 years and past pupils including former prime minister Harold Wilson.

It has been put together as part of Roots Around Paddock, a project funded by £40,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Project coordinator Irene Lofthouse said: “We have looked at the history of the school between 1900 and 2000 and the pupils have done a great job.”

The exhibition was on show last Monday and Tuesday.
