STUDENTS have been rewarded for their academic successes.

The awards evening to celebrate achievements in science, maths, engineering and technology was held at Royds Hall High School, Paddock.

The evening also involved partner primary schools, sixth- form colleges and both the University of Huddersfield and Sheffield Hallam University.

Over 100 glass trophies were awarded to students for excellence in the subjects and other areas of the curriculum.

This included students acting as science or maths leaders in the school, supporting events and working with other students.

As well as students at the specialist college being honoured, students from partner primary schools Paddock School, Crow Lane Primary School, Spring Grove Primary School, Cowlersley Primary School and Reinwood Primary School received trophies.

Awards were also given to students from Greenhead College, Huddersfield New College, Kirklees College and the University of Huddersfield.

Presenting the awards was Katy Deacon, a senior engineer for Kirklees Council who talked about her career.

Before the presentation students and their parents were treated to workshops including medical photography and careers in pathology.
