PROSPECTIVE parents and students of a pioneering new school in Huddersfield are invited to an event on Saturday .
A “pop-up shop” for Netherhall Learning Campus’s Creative and Media Studio School will be in the Packhorse Centre to answer any questions about the courses and the school.
It will be open from 9am to 5pm and the school will also be unveiling architects’ plans for the brand new £4.5m building which will open in 2012.
Kirklees Council hopes to win permission from planners by November of this year to build the school, with the first pupils starting in September 2012.
The school would help train 300 young people aged 14 to 19 to find jobs in the creative and media industries. All pupils would be expected to spend a significant amount of their time doing work experience.
The council has drawn up the plan with the Media Centre, the Textile Centre for Excellence, the University of Huddersfield, Kirklees College and Huddersfield MP Barry Sheerman.
The Department of Education has committed £4.48m to build the school next to the Rawthorpe High School site.
