POLICE subdued a pensioner with a Taser stun gun after fears he was carrying a gun.

The drama began when a man told police he had been threatened by a man with a gun in Lockwood at 1.20pm on Saturday.

Armed police swooped on the area and saw the 68-year-old man in the nearby Swan Lane area.

It is alleged he set his bull terrier dog on officers.

Police used a Taser to subdue the man after he failed to comply with their instructions.

Police say they recovered a ball-bearing gun and a carving knife.

The man was arrested and taken to Huddersfield police headquarters for questioning on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear.

He was released on bail to return to the police station on October 10.
