SPORTS snappers have been asked to submit pictures for a new competition.

The West Yorkshire Police Community Trust is asking for photos of amateur sporting events for its first-ever calendar.

The winning entry will appear on the front cover and the winner will also get to visit the West Yorkshire Police Imaging Unit where they will have their picture professionally developed and framed.

The community trust was formed in 1996 and donates thousands to good causes across West Yorkshire each year.

Spokeswoman Emily Wilson said: “This is the first time we have launched a competition of this kind and we hope it will prove to be a big hit with residents.

“Entrants can take pictures of any sport they wish and should make sure they get their entries into us by August 1.

“Good luck to everyone who takes part in helping us create what will hopefully be the first of many sporting calendars.”

Pictures should be e-mailed to competition@westyorkshire.police.uk or sent on a CD Rom to Emily Wilson, Photographic Competition, HQ Local Policing PO Box 9, Laburnum Road, Wakefield, WF1 3QP.
