A NEW scheme to pay for car parking introduced by Kirklees Council in April is gaining in popularity.

Almost 1,000 drivers have registered with ‘PaybyPhone’ since its launch and they have used the service more than 3,700 times to pay for their car parking in council-run car parks.

Springwood and Spring Grove car parks in Huddersfield are currently the most popular for this service with customers seeing the advantage of not having to carry change.

Customers can pre-register prior to their first use of the system at https://paybyphone.co.uk/ or can simply set up an account the first time they want to use it.

Each parking location has its own unique location code – simply call the number on the side of the machine and follow the instructions.

One customer said: “This means I don’t have to worry about having the right change, saving time and stress especially in the awful weather we have experienced lately. I no longer have to queue to buy my ticket or return to my car.”

Paybyphone parking is available at all pay and display car parks and on-street parking areas managed by Kirklees Council’s parking department.
