HE’S more used to the comfort of a luxurious Volvo S80.
But the Mayor of Kirklees, David Ridgway, swapped the plush leather seats for a silver dodgem car as he opened a new funfair in Huddersfield.
The Mayor joined thrill-seekers who jumped on a host of white knuckle rides as the Mega Value Fun Park was opened at Kingsbridge Road car park yesterday.
The mobile fairground was held at nearby Wakefield Road last year and proved hugely popular.
The park features one of the scariest rides around, Bomber, a giant swinging ride that gives passengers several moments of weightlessness. For £4.99, revellers can go on the rides as many times as they like in a four-hour session.
Other rides include Tagada, described as “pure jumping madness”, along with traditional favourites such as the waltzer, twister, and the fun house.
Organiser, Alan Cowie, said: “We are bringing entertainment into the heart of Huddersfield”.
