AROUND 5,000 people gathered together for Deighton Carnival.
The annual event is designed to bring the whole community – young and old – together.
And Howard Belafonte, event co-ordinator, said it was a great day.
“After a small shower of rain the sun shone and it brought everyone out.
“The stage show and procession were excellent and we got just under 5,000 people there.
“It’s an important event for the community of Deighton. This shows us in a positive light – everybody in the community working together – and for one day it brings young children, older people and all nationalities together.”
The carnival is now in its 11th year and included a procession, music and entertainment, funfair rides and face painting, plus sport events including five-a-side football tournaments – kids, juniors, seniors and open age basketball and netball.
