HUDDERSFIELD town centre is set to be be full of life on Sunday.

Many stores outside the new Kingsgate shopping centre plan to open for business.

In addition to the stores in Kingsgate, people will also have the chance to visit other shops that have not opened on a Sunday before.

Woolworth's, W H Smith, River Island, Vision Express, Marks and Spencer and Evans will all be opening on a Sunday, along with a host of others.

Children's entertainer Mr Vic will be keeping youngsters amused this Sunday.

Mr Vic will be at New Street from 12.30pm to 4pm.

And on Sunday, March 10, the colourful St Patrick's Day parade will hit town.

Shoppers will also have chance to benefit from free car parking.

The multi-storey and Kingsgate car parks and on-street parking will all be free.

David Wyles, town centre manager, said: "Sunday is the key shopping day, particularly for families.

"There will be no parking charges in Huddersfield and people do not have to drive miles to reach the town centre as they do for the out-of-town shopping centres."

Peckish shoppers can benefit from a buy one get one free offer at Blimpies Subs and Salads, The Shambles, on Sunday.
