HUDDERSFIELD'S New Street Post Office will open on Sunday for the first time in the run-up to Christmas.

Customers will be able to get a full range of products and services between 10am and 4pm this Sunday and on December 11 and 18.

The branch is among five in Yorkshire and the North-East which will be open for business on Sundays.

A spokesman said the move offered greater freedom of choice.

He said: "Many of our branches are in main shopping areas in towns and cities and now offer a range of new retail products alongside our core products and services."

The other post offices opening in the region are in Keighley, Leeds, Newcastle and Sunderland.

All five have recently undergone refurbishments to give better signs, lights, decoration and fittings.

They are also offering new products including books, videos, mini hi-fis and DVD players.
