AS preparations get underway for this year’s Mirfield Show organisers can only hope the dismal weather doesn’t hit their plans.

Organisers of the August 19 show are hoping for the rain to stop as more attractions are confirmed for the event.

Chris Ramsden, committee chairman, said: “We have been very busy preparing for the best show ever, with family fun and something for everyone.

“The only thing missing at the moment is the sun.”

The award-winning Knottingley Silver Band, the Mirfield Scouts adventure area, martial arts displays and children’s rides will be some of the attractions at the showground, off Huddersfield Road.

There will also be the usual family favourites, including the fun dog show and the horse and pony show.

Visitors will also have the chance to see the Emperor’s Horse Guards, featured on Channel 4’sTime Team and the UKTV History Channel.

Visitors will also be able to try on some of the armour as the Guards show off their horses and fighting skills.
