CLARE Slater has clinched a top slimming award after shedding an amazing 12 stones in two years.

The Highburton woman took third place in the Slimming World Slimmer of the Year competition.

Clare who weighed 23 stones six pounds at her heaviest is now keen to realise another ambition and ride a motorbike.

The 33 -year-old once said she wouldn't ride a bike because it made her look like `a pea on a razor blade'.

But after trimming down to just 11st 3lbs and a svelte size 12 she is now planning motorbike lessons.

Clare, a First Direct manager, lost her weight by attending Slimming World classes in Kirkburton.

Clare was accompanied at the contest ceremony by Sophie Carpenter, a Slimming World manager in Huddersfield.

Winner Christina Walsh, from north London, lost 11 stones and beat thousands of slimmers to clinch the national title.

Her seven-year-old son - who was taunted at school about his mother's weight - said she looks like she has taken off her "fat suit".
