SAINSBURY’S staff got on their horses to raise money for a Huddersfield charity.
Staff from the Market Street branch teamed up with Marsh Liberal Club to hold a race night to raise money for Kirkwood Hospice.
Val Riley, the store’s code controller, organised the event with Rob Armitage from the club, while a buffet supper was provided by club member Wendy Brook.
Prizes were donated from the managers at the store and staff held a bucket collection.
The event raised about £500 for the Dalton hospice.
This year, the hospice’s running costs are more than £3.9m, only a fifth of which comes from the local primary care trust and the Government.
Hospice fundraiser Kate Leadbeater said: “I would like to thank everyone involved. It costs us approximately £10,500 a day to run the hospice and without the support of local people, we would not be able to continue to develop and extend our services.”
