ONE of Huddersfield's busiest road junctions will be improved.

A new and hard- wearing road surface will be laid at the junction of the A644 Wakefield Road and A62 Leeds Road/Cooper Bridge Road at Cooper Bridge.

Highways engineers say it is a high stress site with large volumes of traffic.

The existing surface had become worn and in need of replacement. The new surface would improve the ride quality for all road users.

Work will take place overnight to avoid traffic disruption and will be done on September 10, 11 and 12 from 7pm to 7am.

The road will be open at all times although the existing traffic lights will be turned off to allow manual traffic control when required.

The scheme will cost around £30,000.
