HOLMFIRTH swimming pool has benefited from a surprise £790 from trustees of the fund that originally financed the baths.
It now boasts an electronic air and water temperature display.
The pool was built in 1975 by public subscription, then taken over by Kirklees Council and later by Kirklees Active Leisure (KAL) in April 2002.
Mr Mark Dunstan, district manager for KAL, said: "One of the original trustees was contacted by the manager of the Midland Bank in Holmfirth, who suddenly found an account that had not been touched for a long time.
"The money left would not have been a lot at the time but after 28 years' interest it amounted to £790."
The manager tracked down one trustee, Mr Paul Smelt, who
wanted the money to be spent on something that KAL would not normally spend money on.
