A SUSPICIOUS package has sparked a total evacuation of Dewsbury Police Station.
The Aldams Road premises were sealed off just after 4pm after a man came into the station with a suspect parcel.
Traffic was completely barred from the ring road near the station and part of the adjacent bus station was also sealed off.
Workers in the adjacent retail park, including Asda, Carpet Right and Farm Foods were also told not to leave their premises.
But the incident was all over by 5.30pm and traffic restrictions were lifted.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police, said: “Dewsbury Police Station was temporarily evacuated as a precaution after a man came into the station at 3.58pm with what he believed was a suspicious package that he had found.
“Most staff have now returned to the building and the road closures have been lifted.”
