KIRKLEES Council and cycling group Sustrans are hosting an evening for those who are interested in becoming a volunteer ranger.

Sustrans helps to keep National Cycle network routes in Kirklees open and accessible. It is now looking for a group of volunteers to act as their ‘eyes and ears’ on the Spen Valley Greenway, Spen Ringway and the Calder Valley.

These routes make up the National Cycle Network Route 66.

Sustrans are also aiming to put an economic value on the 20km-long route, using the recently announced Department for Transport appraisal guidance for cycling projects.

The meeting will take place on Thursday, March 19, between 7:30pm and 9pm in the first floor bar lounge at Cleckheaton Town Hall, Bradford Road, Cleckheaton.
